Blessed is anyone who endures temptation.
Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life
that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
Sovereign Lord, who reigns over the heavens and the earth.
You formed us out of the dust of the earth.
You call us each by name, a holy, a sacred name.
The stars tell of your magnificent works,
and we sit as a royal diadem in your almighty hand.
As we prepare to enter a season of Lent we remember that we are dust.
We are dust, but are not sentenced harshly or unjustly.
Your mercy exceeds all human understanding.
Your grace and compassion are as a boundless ocean.
And in you we find peace and serenity.
May we remember the gift of your Son Jesus Christ.
May we be renewed by the power of your Holy Spirit.
And may we go forth with vigor and courage to proclaim your holy name.
Let us set the captive free…
Let us care for the poor and the oppressed…
O Lord, who has dominion over all creation forgive us, restores us,
and send us out to be your hands and feet.
